Once I remembered to add sugar to my homemade hummingbird food, the hummers have been buzzing around like crazy! Talk about feeling silly! I kept noticing that the hummingbirds were taking a sip, but not staying and drinking....until I remembered that I'd heated the water and added the food coloring, but forgot the sugar. A true "blonde" moment!

Mickie's Ruby Locket
Sixty-seven years ago, my grandfather, Orville, gave this mother-of-pearl locket to my grandmother, Mickie, on the occasion of their eighth anniversary. The inscription reads "Mick form Orv, 8 Anniv." This was during World War II -- and they were still struggling to make their paychecks last to the end of each week! I'm not sure what was in the center of the flower originally, but for their 40th anniversary, he added the ruby. :-)
Their lives were complicated, and they had more than their share of hard times...but they adored each other. They've both been gone now for many years. But I do enjoy looking at this locket, a symbol of their love.

Easter 2011
I'm a little late in sharing these photos -- but here are the pics that I took on Easter. We had good company and good food -- what else could you ask for? Well, maybe good weather too -- but two out of three isn't bad! :-)
Jessica hugging her daddy -- whether he wants a hug or not!
Grandma Cindy admiring Trent's Easter loot.
Cindy enjoying Braxton, who is enjoying some Easter candy!

Discing Cheavens' Field
Jake & Bruce were ready to get started planting corn, as soon as the fields were dry enough to disc. This photo shows Jake taking over the discing, so that Bruce can start the planting.
